A Bed-Stuy institution, straight from Trinidad
Since 2002, Trinidadian natives Noel and Geeta Brown have been serving Fulton Street the real thing: doubles built to order, roti made fresh, and bake & saltfish that brings the morning line in before most of Brooklyn is awake.
In 2019 the James Beard Foundation made it official, naming A&A an America's Classic — the award reserved for beloved neighborhood restaurants with timeless appeal. The line out the door already knew.
The doubles that won a James Beard Award
Doubles are Trinidad's iconic street food — curried chickpeas (channa) layered between two soft, fried bara flatbreads, dressed with pepper and chutney. At A&A they're made the way they're made in Trinidad, and they're the reason the shop's name travels far beyond Fulton Street.
Come early — regulars know the doubles move fast.
